Within the field of health, HOPE’s primary goal is to increase access to preventive and curative healthcare for the poor by setting up emergency, primary and secondary care facilities in rural areas and urban slums. To achieve this, HOPE provides primary healthcare services for Basic Health Units (BHU) and secondary care hospitals in rural settings such as Hub, Balochistan and Bukhari Mohalla, Thatta in interior Sindh. Furthermore, HOPE reduces barriers to healthcare access by establishing referral linkages to HOPE and District Headquarter hospitals in remote areas, through mobile clinics and reproductive healthcare programs. HOPE’s program objectives are also targeted towards preventive healthcare by targeting women and children at the grassroots level through promotion of hygiene and sanitation practices, immunizations, and diarrhea prevention.
HOPE strives to improve the nutritional and health status of the poor, and specifically aims to address the health needs of the most vulnerable segments of the communities -- mothers and children. Thus, in order to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health, HOPE provides maternal and neonatal care services. HOPE has also established Maternal and Child Healthcare (MCH) centers that provide health education and preventive care. Furthermore, HOPE operates Nutritional Support programs at the community level in certain focused areas within the Sindh district. The Nutritional Support program aims to provide nutrition supplements and nutritional education to malnourished children and pregnant and lactating mothers, in addition to providing stabilization and rehabilitation services to treat the severely malnourished.
