Giving Tuesday ๐ is Today, November 28, 2023! On This International Day Dedicated to Charity, We Invite You to Learn More About HOPE USA ๐บ๐ธ and How We Are Taking Active Measures to Reduce Maternal ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ผ and Infant ๐ง๐ป Mortality in Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ.
Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ is Projected to Be Fifth in World ๐ Population by the Year 2050 ๐๏ธ. Unfortunately, 25% to 40% of Pakistan's Population is Living Below the Poverty Line ๐. Health indicators ๐ซ Suggest that it is the Lack ๐ซ of Accessible Healthcare ๐ฅ โ not Terrorism, Drones or the Energy Crisis โ That is the Greatest Adversity Facing Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ.
When We Examine a Few Basic Statistics ๐, the Reality Becomes All Too Clear. Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ spends a Shockingly Low Percentage of its GDP - 2.6% on Healthcare ๐ฉบ. Preventable Diseases such as Malaria, Bronchial Infections, and Gastrointestinal Issues abound. 40% of Pakistan's children ๐ง๐ป are malnourished, and of those, 11% are severely malnourished.
Two Subcomponents Within the Raging Healthcare โค๏ธโ๐ฉน Crisis are the Maternal ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ผand Infant ๐ฃ Mortality Rates:
๐ถ According to Unicef, Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ has the Highest Infant ๐ง๐ป Mortality Rate in the World ๐ - Infants ๐ง๐ป Here Face a 1 in 22 chance of Dying Within One Month of Birth, 50 Times That of Their Counterparts in Japan ๐ฏ๐ต and Iceland ๐ฎ๐ธ.
๐ถ Similarly, Pakistan's ๐ต๐ฐ Maternal ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ผ Mortality Rate Accounts for 28% of the Global ๐ Total. Every 37 Minutes, One Woman in Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ Dies Due to Pregnancy-Related Complications - This Amounts to 14,000 Women Yearly ๐๏ธ.
In any Society, Poor People turn to Their Governments for Support. However, due to Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ Being a Developing Country, Both the Quality and Quantity of Government-Sponsored Health ๐ฅ Services for the Poor are Lacking ๐ซ. This is where Non-Governmental Organizations ๐ such as HOPE Enter the Picture.
In Just This Past Year Alone, HOPE Has Launched 3 New Maternal ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ผ and Child ๐ง๐ป Health Centers ๐ฅ in Rural Villages ๐ in Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ. Each of These Facilities Which Are Sponsored By Yusuf Foundation Will Provide Prenatal and Infant Care to 20,000 Women and Children Per Year. We used a bit of Foresight and Strategy to Equip to These Centers with Birthing Provisions - Otherwise in Rural Villages ๐, Women ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ผ Would Often Give Birth at Home, and When Complications Occurred, Medical Facilities Were Often Too Far Away ๐ to Traverse.
In September 2023, We All Celebrated the Birth of a Baby Girl in Our Kashmir Maternal and Child Health Center - the First of Hopefully Many to Come.
In Pakistan, 80% of Infant Deaths and 33% of Maternal Deaths are Preventable - We are Using These Statistics ๐ to Actively Intervene and Save as Many Lives as Possible. Every year, 15,000 babies ๐ฅ are Born in our Hospitals ๐ฅ, and of Those, 3,000 are Given Life-Saving ๐ Neonatal Treatments โค๏ธโ๐ฉน.
It's Been a Monumental Year for Us and We Are So Thankful to Our Supporters and to God. Altogether This Year, In Addition to Our Normal Poverty Alleviation Activities, We Played a Central Role in Relief Work for the Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ Flood Crisis ๐ of 2022 which affected 33 million people and left 2.1 people homeless. We Provided 115,000 Poor People with Cooked Food ๐ฅ, Food Rations ๐ฑ , Medical Aid ๐, Mosquito Nets ๐ฆ, Clothing ๐, Bedding ๐๏ธ, and Even Housing during this Catastrophic Crisis that Left 1/3 of the Country under Water for Months.
HOPE Uses a Calculated Interventional Approach Towards Poverty Alleviation in Pakistan ๐ต๐ฐ. We Believe that Given the Proper Foundation in Basic Human Rights such as Health ๐ฉบ and Education ๐, People Can Rise to Their Inherent Potential.
