Dear HOPE Friends,
Medical Students 𩺠from Aga Khan University Visit HOPE's Zia Colony Hospital š„
On February 12, 2026, medical students 𩺠from Pakistan's renowned Aga Khan University Medical College visited HOPE Hospital š„ Zia Colony. Zia Colony is a downtrodden inner city district within the bustling city of Karachi, Pakistan šµš°.
HOPE has been operating a Formal School š«, Hospital š„, Vocational Centers š„ļø, and Maternal and Child Health Centers š„ within the poverty-stricken area of Zia Colony for over two decades. Patients and students of HOPE's Hospitals, Schools, and Vocational Centers all live below the poverty line and receive services for free/nominal cost. These services are sponsored by our generous donors to uplift people from the tenacious grip of poverty ā¤ļøā𩹠.
The purpose of the visit was to demonstrate how hospitals function within the broader healthcare system, with a focus on healthcare delivery. The 25 second-year medical students 𩺠from Aga Khan University participated in a field visit to gain perspective on:
š¶ Zia Colony Hospital's š„ role in delivering primary, secondary, and tertiary care š©ŗ
š¶ Integration of hospital š„services within the larger health system
š¶ Patient care practices and approaches to maintaining healthcare quality š„¼ and patient safety
š¶ Operational strategies used to overcome challenges in delivering patient care š
This field trip was initiated by the Department of Community Health Services at Aga Khan University. Aga Khan University students met with HOPE personnel, including HOPE Pakistan Founder, Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, during the visit.
Thank you to Aga Khan University students as well as the Department of Community Health Services at Aga Khan University for their interest in learning how HOPE Zia Colony Hospital functions within the broader realm of healthcare services within Karachi, Pakistan šµš°.
Warm regards,
The HOPE USA šŗšøšµš°Team
